So Jung Hwan of the popular K-pop boy band TREASURE has tested positive for COVID-19, it has been confirmed. The news came to light on July 16 when the band's agency, YG Entertainment, revealed in a statement that So Jun Hwan is the second member to contract the virus.
This newsbreak comes just days after Doyoung also tested positive for the virus.
Soompi quoted the official letter from the YG Entertainment that read, "We inform you that TREASURE member So Jung Hwan tested positive for COVID-19 today (July 16)."
The label also stated that besides Doyoung, the other TREASURE members and staff have tested negative.
In the statement released to the media, they also claimed, "So Jung Hwan tested negative initially, but he received a positive result from continuously checking his health with a rapid detection kit while under self-quarantine, and he was confirmed positive with the following PCR test."
The agency has assured fans that they are providing the artists with everything that they need right now. "We are providing full support and taking preemptive safety measures with the health of our artists and staff as the top priority, and we are actively cooperating with contact tracing by health authorities."
Lastly, while thanking fans for their love and care, the agency also thanked the frontline workers who are working tirelessly in the battle against the virus. "We once again thank fans for their concern and the medical workers who are dedicated to overcoming COVID-19, and we will once again make quick and accurate announcements if any changes arise in the future."

Tweets such as "Get well soon Jung Hwan" have been trending since the news was confirmed.
TREASURE made its debut last year and swiftly became a prominent name in the industry. They have built a massive fan base in the K-pop world with outstanding projects, including their full-length album 'The First Step: Treasure Effect' in 2021.
