On September 30, both Kohama Ryota and his wife, Michelle Lavigne, took to their social media accounts to share a photo of fall season leaves, along with an official joint statement announcing their divorce. The post read that while the couple has spent a lot of time together, they have mutually chosen to part ways, and that they request everyone’s support at this time.
The caption in the post read, “Though our lives will change, we will always support each other as parents. We are truly grateful for the time we've shared and the family we've built together. We appreciate your kindness and understanding as we begin this new chapter.”

He, along with his childhood friend Toru Yamashita, first started a hip hop dance group called HEADS. In 2005, he was invited by Toru, as well as his upperclassman Koyanagi Yuu, to start a rock band, which we now know as the iconic ONE OK ROCK.
