Kep1er, the girl K-pop group is gearing up for a significant transition. The group's management agencies, WAKEONE and SWING Entertainment, recently revealed important updates regarding the group's lineup and future projects. Kep1er's Yujin, Xiaoting, Chaehyun, Dayeon, Hikaru, Huening Bahiyyih, and Youngeun have all inked contract extensions. This decision ensures that the group will persist as a seven-member unit.
However, amidst these developments, the announcement also ushered in a bittersweet chapter for the group.
After thoughtful deliberation, Mashiro and Yeseo have chosen to bid farewell to their fellow members and fans following the completion of their upcoming concert, which is slated for June 3.
Expressing gratitude and appreciation for the invaluable contributions of Mashiro and Yeseo, the agencies have pledged support for their individual pursuits and artistic activities. They also mentioned that the agencies will foster the musical development of every Kep1er member, promoting their entire discography from their debut to their latest album as a cohesive nine-member group, both domestically and internationally.
Formed through the 2021 reality show ‘Girls Planet 999’, Kep1er swiftly made their place in the hearts of fans worldwide with their electrifying performances and passion. This group comprises talents such as Kim Chahyun, Huening Bahiyyih, Choi Yujin, Kim Dayeon, Seo Youngeun, Kang Yeseo, Hikaru Ezaki, Mashiro Sakamoto, and Shen Xiaoting.
Their debut in January 2022 with ‘First Impact’ and the chart-topping track ‘Wa Da Da’ marked the beginning of their journey in the K-pop industry. Moreover, Kep1er joined the lineup of competing teams and soloists on Queendom season 2, alongside renowned acts such as WSJN, LOONA, Brave Girls, HYOLYN, and VIVIZ. Notably, Yeseo stood out as the youngest contestant among all participants. Following their spirited performances, Kep1er secured the 5th position in the competition.
