INFINITE’s Sungkyu in a new musical drama
‘Death Note’ is getting an official remake in the form of a musical, and the cast of the upcoming show has fans elated. According to Allkpop reports, Sungkyu from INFINITE has been cast as L, the beloved detective from the original series. The idol has previously worked on various other productions, building up anticipation for the role. He will be starring alongside B1A4's Sandeul and Tang Junsang on the musical.
About Sungkyu
He is the leader, as well as the main vocalist, of the popular K-pop group INIFINITE. He debuted in the entertainment industry in 2010 with the group, and later pursued a solo career from 2012. Ever since his debut, the singer has made a name for himself in the industry and has worked on various projects.
His debut in the world of musicals came the same year when he starred as one of the characters in the hit musical ‘Gwanghwamun Sonata’ alongside fellow member Woohyun. Some of his other musicals include ‘Dear Evan Hansen’, ‘Red Book ', 'Xcalibur ', and 'Kinky Boots’.
About ‘Death Note’
‘Death Note was originally released as a manga series in the early 2000s, and later rose to popularity to the point where it was adapted into various formats. The series follows the story of Light Yagami, who is still a school student; however, is known for his high intelligence. One day, he comes across a notebook called the ‘Death Note’, which grants the user the ability to kill anyone whose name is written on its pages.
While Yagami takes it on himself to become a vigilante and carry out a massacre worldwide, detective L is tasked with a special team in order to apprehend him.
