BTS’ RM recalls convincing the label not to change explicit lyrics from Jung Kook’s ‘Seven’

BTS’ Jung Kook’s track ‘Seven’ was a big hit, and certainly, the bold lyrics are a tribute to RM. The global K-pop boyband member revealed that the label was planning to remove the explicit lyrics from the hit track; however, RM intervened and convinced the label to keep the lyrics as is. While speaking with Rolling Stone, Jung Kook was asked about his hit collaboration 'Seven' with Latto, and shared how he felt about the song's explicit lyrics. "I wasn't embarrassed," Jung Kook (born Jeon Jung-kook), 28, said of the lyrics. "I just felt, 'So what?'" Then, RM stepped in and said that he was the one to intervene when label executives were hesitant about the lyrics. "I told the label, ‘Please don't change! Why not? He's all grown up. He can sing an f-word,'” RM, 31, said.In October 2023, 'Seven' became the fastest song to reach 1 billion streams on Spotify history. It also claimed the No. 1 spot on Billboard's Global 200.Elsewhere in the interview with Rolling Stone, RM also revealed that Jung Kook almost performed solo at the 2024 Super Bowl. "Usher invited him before the military, but it didn't work out because of the military," he claimed. Jung Kook was unable to perform because his mandatory military service began in December 2023 alongside Jimin. In South Korea, all able-bodied men aged 18-28 must serve between 18 and 21 months in the military.
