BLACKPINK's Lisa maintains silence amid 'Rockstar' plagiarism controversy, expresses a 'big heartfelt' thanks to fans

BLACKPINK’s Lisa is winning hearts for her single 'Rockstar', despite the MV being dragged in a plagiarism row. While she expressed gratitude to fans for their support, Lisa refused to comment on the controversy.

On July 16, Lisa took to Instagram to share a series of photos, thanking fans for their support at the recent Rockstar pop-up event in Seoul. She wrote in caption, “A big heartfelt Thank You to everyone who attended the Rockstar pop-up event this past weekend in Seoul. I felt so much love from you guys and always thankful for the support. I can’t wait to show you more”. She was dressed in a stylish outfit featuring a white crop top, black baggy pants, boots, and a cap.

However, amidst the seemingly cheerful update, netizens couldn’t shake off a sense of unease following recent allegations of plagiarism surrounding Lisa’s ‘Rockstar’ music video, released on June 27. The controversy erupted when photographer and video director Gabriel Moses accused Lisa’s team of plagiarizing Travis Scott’s ‘FE!N’ music video, citing similarities and alleged unauthorized use of references despite initial refusal from his editor.

Moses publicly called for an explanation from Lisa’s team by the end of the month, yet Lisa herself has remained conspicuously silent on the matter. This silence echoes a pattern observed in previous instances where allegations of plagiarism have surfaced involving her music video outfits.

In February this year, Lisa launched her solo label, LLOUD, which would support her aspirations in music. All members of BLACKPINK did not renew their contracts with YG Entertainment, after it concluded last year. However, they will associate with the agency for their group representation.
