IU and G-Dragon recently reunited on IU’s music talk show, IU’s Palette, marking their first joint appearance in nearly eight years. The episode, released on March 27, featured lighthearted banter between the two artists, discussions about how their dynamic has changed over time, and a live performance of their 2017 collaboration, 'Palette.'
During their conversation, IU playfully brought up something she had heard during the pre-show interview. She told G-Dragon that she was surprised to learn he felt awkward around her. She asked, “I heard you say you feel awkward around me. Is that true?”
G-Dragon immediately denied the claim, responding, “I don’t! Haven’t we actually gotten much closer than before?” IU then admitted that she also felt the same way and reflected on their past interactions.
The singer recalled their time recording 'Palette' in 2017 and mentioned how their lack of experience might have contributed to their initial awkwardness. She noted, “Back then, I was 25, and you were 30. I wasn’t sure how to act around you.”
G-Dragon agreed with her, admitting that he had felt unsure about how to interact with colleagues in the industry in general, possibly due to his introverted nature. Both artists acknowledged that their relationship had naturally evolved over the years, making them feel more comfortable with each other now.
They also reminisced about their first meeting after seven years at IU’s THE WINNING concert in September 2024. Despite the long gap, IU shared that it felt surprisingly natural to greet each other again. She said, “Even though we hadn’t met for seven years, when we said hello again, it felt strangely natural.”
Although they had not spent much time together in recent years, they revealed that they had maintained a connection by exchanging New Year’s greetings and sending each other occasional messages.
Aside from their fun conversation, fans were thrilled to see the duo perform Palette live again after almost eight years. The song, known for its message of self-discovery and empowerment, features lyrics that reflect IU’s journey toward self-confidence while still embracing the uncertainties of life.
IU and G-Dragon’s reunion on IU’s Palette delighted their fans, who were excited to see their bond stronger than before. Their friendly exchange and nostalgic performance made the episode a special treat for viewers.
