Renowned actor Tom Alter was in the city recently to present his solo act play Maulana Azad as a part of the Urdu Natya Samaroh. “Since childhood, I have ben associated with theatre and the entire credit for my success goes to it. When I went to Bombay in search of a proper platform for my work, I got associated with the Motli group with which I did theatre for almost 10 years."
The play directed by Mohammad Sayeed Alam revolves around the life journey of freedom fighter and independent India’s first Education Minister Maulana Abul Kalam Azad.

It has completed 155 shows and has been adapted from Azad’s novel Ghubar-e-Khatir. “The book has been written so beautifully. I have received tremendous applause everywhere I have performed this play,” said Tom.
When asked if he faces any challenges while essaying the character, he said, “Every show of this play is challenging and I try providing something new to the audience without affecting the play’s essence. I wish that the shows of this play continue forever.”
