The much awaited Summer Festival organized by Cidco from May 22 to June 21 at Urban Haat in Belapur will showcase a variety of events including theatre, films, food recipes from different parts of the country, along with art and handicrafts. For this summer festival, artisans from 10 different states will come in to showcase exquisite handicrafts and handloom products like saris, dress materials, bed sheets, carpets and curtains.
Latest collections of handicrafts like bamboo furniture, wooden crafts and terracotta items and fine paintings like Rajasthani, Warli, Madhubani and Patchitra will be made available.
There are also leather products like ladies bags, shoes, toys and gents wallets, fine collections of artificial jewelleries, ethnics in latest designs. The Self Help Groups under Maharashtra State Rural Livelihood Mission (MSRLM) and Khadi and Village Industries, Maharashtra State will be participating with their handloom, handicraft and food items. There will also be special mango stalls from the Ratnagiri district of Maharashtra,'' informed a Cidco official.
For the food lovers, many mouth-watering cuisines like fish curry/fry, Konkani foods, Solkadi, pickles, Rajasthani and Kolhapuri cuisines will be made available. One can also learn different types of paintings and crafts like Madhubani, Rajasthani, Warli, paper quelling works, and many other handmade decorative items in the Summer Festival by well known artists. The painting classes shall commence from May 25, 2015.
Various events like Documentary Film Shows, Orchestra/Drama and Cultural Programmes have been proposed at the Haat on every Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Documentary films in co-ordination with Film Division Government of India will be held from 7 pm to 9 pm. Famous documentaries on various social and cultural awareness messages like
Light Shadow and Me,
Yeh Kahan Aa Gaye Hum,
Portrait of a City,
Bavaraa Mann,
Realising Mahatma’s Vision,
Phul Basan Bai among others will be showcased.
Yavnika Theatres will be performing Marathi and Hindi dramas every Sunday from 7 pm to 9 pm. Additionally, a musical orchestra by well known artist D K Sharma of Hobby Club and Sur Sangam by Nazneen Event Management will be held on every Saturday in the Summer Festival.
