Director Akarsh Khurana's successful comedy 'Dhumrapaan' which features veteran stage artistes Kumud Mishra and Shubhrajyoti Barat, will be played in Mumbai this weekend. Written by actor-playwright Adhir Bhat, it has bagged the drama award for the 'Best Original Script,' and the play returns to the city, after being a part of all major theatre festivals in India. Apart from Mishra and Barat, 'Dhumrapaan' also stars actors Siddharth Kumar, Ghanshyam Lalsa, Taaruk Raina, Abhishek Saha, Sarthak Kakar, Saurabh Nayyar and Meena Singh.

The play is set in the smoking area of a corporate building over the period of a week, and revolves around a bunch of office employees who discuss appraisals, politics, and relationships, all the while dealing with their stress, fears, and insecurities. It's a comedy on the rat race and how people cope with it. Interestingly, it also depicts the irony of how employees use the smoking room to get rid of the claustrophobia they suffer from in their air-conditioned cubicles. The drama is reminiscent of Khurana’s other play 'The Interview', which is also set against an office backdrop, and is an entertaining corporate satire.
