On Saturday, director
Atul Kumar's upcoming
play
'Detective Nau-Do-Gyarah' will premiere in Mumbai. A
gangster
comedy, the play, written by Pallav Singh, Niketan Sharma and Gagan Dev Riar, is set against the mesmerising backdrop of Mumbai of the black and white era and pays a homage to vintage gangster dramas. It is a heady whirlwind of romance, murder, deceit and suspense.
'Detective Nau-Do-Gyarah'
The story begins with a casual evening at the legendary Opera House and quickly turns into a fast-paced chase for the unsuspecting hero, Shekhar Kumar, when gunshots interrupt the show. A mysterious damsel in distress seeks his help and he reluctantly agrees, only to find himself facing the Bombay mafia, and eventually, an international spy ring primed and ready to unleash a scheme so treacherous that it could bring the nation to its military knees overnight!
'Detective Nau-Do-Gyarah'
Interestingly, the play features a ensemble cast like Neil Bhoopalam, Abir Abrar, Gagan Dev Riar, Srishti Shrivastava, Niketan Sharma, Mrinmayee Godbole, Mallika Singh, Sukant Goel, Rachel D’Souza, Anna Ador, Roshan Shetty, Sanket Kadam, who will essay more than a 100 characters between them. Apart from the costumes, the play gets a vintage touch with the live jazz band, that plays tunes reminiscent of 1950s and 1960s.
