Giving an insight in the Jewish world, Postal Delivery To God, a play performed in Hebrew by artistes of Jaffa Theatre, Israel, connected well with the audience. The play was held at National School of Dramaâs Bharat Rang Mahotsav, recently. Directed by Ruthie Osterman and Amit Zarka, who also acted along with three other artistes â Moria Auraham, Nuphar Blechner and Reut Barbie â the hour-long play was being staged outside Israel for the first time.
THREE PERIODS OF LIFE The drama was based on the personal stories of the playâs creators and performers and told the story of two religious girls searching for God. The play comprised of three parts which represent three different periods of their lives â girlhood, adolescence and womanhood. Each part is characterized in a different manner and presents various conflicts through their conversations with God.
STATUS OF WOMEN IN ISRAEL The second half relied on long silences and pauses. Replete with traditional song and dance, the play also had a few moving scenes. âThough understanding the language was difficult, we were sure that the issue that we highlighted with our song, dance and emotions would have connected well with the Indian viewers,â said Ruthie.
Padmanabha Balakrishna Acharya, governor of Nagaland, Tripura and Assam, attended the play along with Waman Kendre, director, NSD, and officials from the Israeli embassy.
