Play 'I am Macbeth' staged in Lucknow

A play titled '

I am Macbeth

', staged recently in Lucknow, took viewers back to the 16th century. Staged at Bhartendu Natya Academy, the play was directed by

Vishal Srivastava

.
The character of Macbeth was portrayed by Piyush Verma while Pooja Singh essayed the role of Lady Macbeth. "You will find acts of valour in this play. There are several plays on Macbeth but what sets this one apart is its storyline which depicts the victory of good over evil," shared theatre veteran, Anil Rastogi. The Hindi adaptation of the play received a great response from the audience and the characters were applauded towards the end for their acting skills.

Director Vishal Srivastava said, "Macbeth is one such adaptation of

William Shakespeare

which has always been successful in stealing the show with its characters and visual appeal."
Interestingly, a few excerpts from the Mahabharata were also included in the play.
