Opening show of ‘Amavas Se Amaltas’ a successful affair

The play titled ‘Amavas se Amaltas’, sees Shikha (Jayati Bhatia), a former judge in the juvenile justice system who has voluntarily retired after being diagnosed with cervical cancer. She lives with her daughter Sonali (Ankita Bhargava), a successful corporate lawyer and her autistic son, Jai (Ssumier Pasricha) Things take a hilarious and dramatic turn in their lives when 16 year old Khushi (Chitrashi Rawat), a sex worker and survivor of the human trafficking chain lands up at their doorstep stumbling upon triggers that unleash the power of unspoken truths. The play immediately center-stages the conversation around children in difficult circumstances and creates a platform that invites a debate, a discussion, and a call for action around some of the most difficult and invisible causes that prevent these children on the margins from accessing their constitutional right to equality as an everyday practice.
The play Is a form of Social Art that addresses knowledge, attitudes and practices, and provides relevant information and motivation through well-defined strategies within a gripping story line. The play is written and directed by Smita Bharti, who has been awarded the Karamveer Puraskaar for Social Change. The cast of the show got including actors Ssumier Pasricha, Jayati Bhatia, Ankita Bhargava and Chitrashi Rawat got positive feedback from the audience for their performance.
