It is only after a long sabbatical that Bengali theatre is coming up with a performance in Navi Mumbai. Along with the play, a dance drama based on Rabindranath Tagore's Chitrangada will also be performed. Ami Nari, the dance drama based on Tagore's literary work will focus on the various pivotal roles of women in the society and the treatment metted towards her. Baishali Majumdar, one of the participants says, "Bengali theatre has been very active in Navi Mumbai, ever since. We usually perform several plays on various occasions, however Tagore is one of our favourite authors. His work is so extensive and beautiful, that you will always find something new and unique every time it is woven into dance dramas or plays."
The troupe is expecting a good turnout at the event since the city is known for its love of theatre.
