Next week, on July 13, a group of theatre artistes in the city have planned a day-long celebration of exciting drama and musical performances, to mark the 82nd birth anniversary of theatre doyen
Satyadev Dubey. He was not only one of India’s legendary drama directors, but he was also a great teacher and an inspiration for three generations of stage actors, directors and writers.
His passing away in 2011 was a big blow to the theatre community across the country.

The motley group of artistes, which is coming together for this special occasion, has been deeply inspired by Dubey and his works, and through their performances, they will pay him a tribute and keep his memory alive.

'Krapp's Last Tape'
The plays that will be staged on July 13 include 'Paanchwa Sawaar', written by Balraj Pandit and directed by Rajesh Singh, and 'Krapp’s Last Tape', written by Samuel Beckett and directed by Gagan Dev Riar. The other acts are '1 Ka 3', written by Uday Prakash, Phansishwarnath Renu, and Badal Sarkar and directed by Trishla Patel, 'The Way I See It' written by Shiv Subrahmanyam and 'Soul' conceived by Sunil Shanbag, where the music has been inspired by the Bhakti tradition. The celebrations, which will take place at Prithvi House in Juhu, are free for all to attend.
