Actress
Minissha Lamba made her theatre debut with the play 'Mirror Mirror', staged at Kamani Auditorium, recently. It is a story of sibling rivalry, written and directed by Saif Hyder Hasan. The monologue traced the relationship between identical twins Minal and Maanya. Talking about the play, Minissha said, “I met Saif at a wedding, where he casually asked me if I was interested in doing a play.
I hadn’t given much thought to it but when he narrated the script to me – one person portraying 13 different characters – I immediately agreed, as it seemed very interesting to me.”
Minissha, an alumna of Miranda House, said, “I wanted to make my theatre debut in Delhi. I find the city’s theatre scene quite great and I knew I would find a great audience here.” It was raining in Delhi when Minissha was in town. The actress said, “I have never witnessed rains in September, so it feels great to be back here.”

Minissha used a lot of voice modulation while playing different characters. There were some live songs too that added to the whole experience. “One day during the rehearsals, I heard Minissha humming and I liked it, so I thought of introducing some live songs in the play. It worked well as I could hear the audience clapping and cheering every time she sang,” said Saif Hyder Hasan, the director of the play.
The evening saw Delhi’s theatre lovers queue up to watch the actress on stage. Amar Singh said, “It was a gripping tale. Although pulling it off alone and remembering all the dialogues seemed like a challenge, Minissha did a great job.”
