Olympic saw four plays in different languages recently.

Attends, Attends, Attends... (Pour Mon Pere): A French solo performance, this play by Jan

Fabre

is an appeal from a son to his father to be patient. The play, inspired by the life of Cédric Charron, a dancer with whom Mr. Fabre has worked closely, explores the art of postponing. The play was staged at Shri Ram Centre.

The Restaurant Of Many Orders: Inspired by Japanese fairy tale writer, Kenji Miyazawa’s novel by the same name, the play is a dance-drama production. The multilingual play is a tragic-comedy, directed by Hiroshi Koike, which was staged at Kamani Auditorium.

Mere Gaadi Waale Dheere Gaadi: A bilingual Marathi-Hindi play by Sunil Ginhe is presented as a ‘Bharud’, a popular folk form in Maharashtra.

is not only entertaining but also spiritually educative with its theatrical, witty and musical qualities.

Deyal Likhon: A Bengali play by Asit Basu, set in the early 1930s, was originally written in German by Friedrich Wolf and translated in Bengali by Utpal Dutta. The play tells the story of an eminent Jew surgeon in Germany, Dr. Mamlok who commits suicide after his pride takes a hit under the Nazi rule. The play was staged at Abhimanch.
