No words match his. To make a play about Ghalib, the
19th century poet
even the thought of the undertaking feels almost blasphemous. How dare a mere mortal attempt the infinite expressions? Love is the only excuse we have to talk about him, to think of him. This weekend Mumbai will see an evening of
Ghalib
lovers thinking, feeling, and speaking about Ghalib all evening.
Obsessively in love with the man, his words, his expression, ideas, theatre artiste
Akriti Singh has put together 'Ghalib' which has stories that are inspired from Ghalib's life, stories around his poetry. Instead of just reading these stories, they will be staged. There are five significant events from his life which also include a story about Ghalib's love for Kolkata, and the last years he spend it Delhi.
The hour long play will have Singh playing him as well as taking over the role of the character who inspired him to write verse. The performance will also have reading and singing of shers written by the poet.
