Apart from new plays, fringe acts and stage talks,
Prithvi Theatre Festival
presented by Bombay Times is also showcasing
Indian classical
music and dance performances this year.
As part of its Sunday Acoustic Jam session, vocalist
Tejashree Amonkar
, granddaughter and disciple of Gaan Saraswati Kishori Amonkar, will render an expression of her guru’s teachings.
Talking about carrying forward the family legacy, Tejashree tells BT, “It is a great responsibility, which has been shouldered over generations, not only by my grandmother but also by her mother, Gaan Tapaswini Mogubai Kurdikar. Every moment is a journey of learning, understanding and exploring. So, I don’t let myself get tied down by this fact, although there is a constant awareness of the same.”
For dance enthusiasts, Kathak artiste
Sanjukta Sinha
, along with a group of dancers from Kadamb, will present 'Miraqi – The Soul Of Dance'. “This is a presentation especially designed keeping in mind new-age Kathak, which is choreographed in accordance with space, colour, aesthetics, design, movements, patterns, flow and elegance. It’s a beautiful blend of technique and abhinaya (expressions),” says Sanjukta.
