A spectacular theatrical experience for underprivileged kids on Children’s Day

As part of Children’s Day celebrations, an NGO held a special screening of ‘

Devdas

’, the Hindi play at

Jamshed Bhabha Theatre

, NCPA, on Wednesday. The kids were privy to a tech rehearsal; with classic and contemporary fusion dance performances, mega sets and the lilting melodies and the music score given by Bertwin Ravi D’souza, it was nothing short of enchanting for the kids to experience something like this.

Under the ‘Anant’ program, the children have had the chance to hone their artistic, music and theatrical talents over many years of practice and are on the way to make their careers in the field of music, theatre and dance.

The kids, close to 15 of them, interacted with the theatrical’s actors, including Gaurav Chopra, Sunil Kumar Palwal, Sukhada Khandkekar, Aanchal Chauhan and Bhavna Pani. The exposure they received will help them enhance their capabilities and create a learning platform for them. The NGO is also organising the show’s premier, which is a fundraiser, today. All the proceeds from the show aims to give an additional 1,000 children a second shot at education in the coming academic year instead of dropping out of school.
