A play on Greek mythology staged in Lucknow

A play titled

Antigone

, based on characters from the

Greek mythology

including Antigone, Ismene, Eteocles, Polyneices and Creon, among others, was staged at Sangeet Natak Akademi, recently. The act was adapted for the stage by renowned theatre and film actor-director Dinesh Thakur, and was originally written by

Sophocles

. In Lucknow, the play was staged under the direction of Ashok Lal which had Avantika Sharma, Babita and BN Ojha as chief guests.

The lead role of Antigone was played by Deepika Bose. Deepika’s acting earned her several compliments from the audience. We even spotted theatre veteran Anil Rastogi enjoying the act. The play had several emotional moments too which left the audience teary-eyed.
