From workshops to panel discussions and live performances, this Saturday will be about all-things-theatre in Mumbai at The Drama School (Charni Road) and
Corona Gardens
(Bandra). Called
‘The Theatre Ppl Festival’
, theatre professionals will be celebrating 10 years of working towards transforming the theatre ecosystem in India.
A variety of workshops on Kalaripayattu, yoga, storytelling among other workshops for children like a puppet show, book reading will be held. Panel discussions by Rajat Kapoor and Rajit Kapur, Geetanjali Kulkarni, Puja Sarup, Yuki Ellias, Faezeh Jalali and Rasika Agashe and plays like ‘Adrak’, ‘Krishna Sandhaan’ and an improv comedy gig will also take place. In addition, there will be a musical performance by
Amod Bhatt
and a dance act by Jessica Nicholas.
Talking about the initiative,
Jehan Manekshaw
, co-founder of the initiative, says, “We believe that theatre transforms people's lives, anybody involved in an act of theatre, as a participant, as a spectator, becomes a better human being. We believe in collaboration to strengthen the theatre communities’ power to make an impactful change in everyday lives.” Adds
