Veteran singer Udit Narayan is currently facing considerable backlash online after a video of him kissing female fans at a live concert went viral. Multiple clips have been shared across social media, showcasing Narayan performing 'Tip Tip Barsa Paani' as female fans gathered near the stage for selfies. After the photos were taken, the singer was seen kissing them on the lips.
Despite the backlash, he remains unfazed by the criticism, and says, "If fans wish to express their affection for me, toh usme galat kya hai? Yeh toh sab fans ka pyar aur unka hamare taraf pagalpan hai. As artists, we just reciprocate. I don’t see anything inappropriate in that."
Ask if this entire episode has affected his family members, and he replies, "Absolutely not! Unhe kyu farak padega. They always travel with me for shows. They are aware of the frenzy."
He adds, "Firstly, I don't understand the intention behind surfacing this video now. This is almost 6-8 months old from one of my concerts abroad. If it’s being shared with malicious intent, then the purpose is defeated because it has not bothered me or impacted my reputation at all. My fans know me. I have been in the industry for more than three decades now, and this whole incident has only added to my popularity."
