Singer Jyotica Tangri: 'Had come to Jaipur to explore Rajasthani music'

was recently in Jaipur. Apart from visiting the tourists spots, Jyotica was here to explore the folk music of Rajasthan. She will soon be seen mentoring contestants on the talent show, Superstar Singer, and one of her students hails from Rajasthan. So it made more sense for her to visit the city and explore the liveliness of

Rajasthani folk music

. “Rajasthani folk music is immensely popular. The melodious sound of the ravanhatta, earthy voices, and lyrics inspired by everyday life – everything is just so lovable about Rajasthani music. I wanted to learn more about it and so, I came to Jaipur. I met a lot of local musicians and interacted with them. One of my cousins, who lives in Jaipur, took me around the city. It was a fun trip,” said Jyotica. In Jaipur, the singer visited Amber Fort, City Palace and relished local food at a famous non-veg restaurant in Jaipur.

Jyotica is now gearing up for the reality show. “I have participated in two reality shows but this is the first time I am taking part in a reality show as a mentor. It’s a huge responsibility and I hope that I am able to do full justice to it,” she said.

Jyotica has lent her voice to many Bollywood films such as

and Total Dhamaal. Recalling her debut in the industry, the singer shared, “I had shifted to Mumbai and was singing scratch for different music directors. I was called to record a scratch track for Jai Maa. When I read the lyrics, I realised that it is a devotional spin to Neha Kakkar’s song Kala Chashma. And being a big fan of Neha, I recorded that song imitating Neha. It was totally for fun. I had no idea that it will work in my favour. The head of a music company heard my voice and was so impressed with the way I imitated Neha that the song was finalised immediately and that’s how I got my first break. I wasn’t even asked to record that song again. Sometimes, the nicest things in life come at the most unexpected moments,” she said, adding, “But that was the first and last time I imitated a voice. Now, I sing in my voice.”
