Shaan: My father and Gulzar saab were good friends

Shaan, who recently collaborated with veteran writer-lyricist Gulzar for an album, says that it is always a delight to work with him. In the past, Shaan has given his voice to many songs penned by Gulzar in films like ‘Asoka’ and ‘Yahaan’ and the singer says that his father and Gulzar saab were good friends. Talking more about the album, ‘In Conversation With Tagore’, Shaan said in a report that it is ready for release now and calls this project a “labour of love”.

Gulzar has penned various translations and interpretations of Rabindranath Tagore’s poems in Hindi and Shantanu Moitra has set the poems into six songs sung by Shreya Ghoshal and Shaan.
Another challenging project for Shaan recently was releasing Nazrul Geeti’s album in Bengali. The singer said that he explored a semi-classical side to his singing while working on the project.
