For singer-songwriter Mallika Mehta, working with renowned Bollywood composers Salim-Sulaiman was a dream come true.
“Salim Sir and Sulaiman Sir have always been idols. I’ve always looked up to their music and heard it endlessly for hours together. To be able to release a song that I’ve written, composed and sung with them is a feeling I can’t seem to put into words.
It’s also a milestone for me because this song is my 10
th original, and I think this is the perfect way to commemorate it.”
Talking about
Salim Merchant, she says, “He is one of the kindest, sweetest people I have ever met. He has always encouraged me when it comes to my music and seeing his reaction to my song was nothing less than a dream come true. I have learnt so much all along the process and I'll always cherish all these memories.”
Her recent song, a poignant, orchestral pop number is about the dark side of relationships, heartbreak and betrayal. “This is not only my 10th original but also my first record label release.” Talking about the song she explains who the ‘criminal’ is in the song. “It is the heartbreaker. In my opinion, heartbreak is big enough a crime. When someone intentionally, cold heartedly plays games with you, keeps you second guessing, makes you question yourself and your sanity and breaks your heart, that person is the criminal.”
