Music composer Vipin Patwa known for films like De De Pyaar De and Daas Dev believes the pandemic has taken its toll on humanity but there is a positive aspect to it." We have been forced to think about our priorities in life," he says.
The music composer, who was in his village Salempur, in Ghazipur district, had spent time with his family for nearly a month.
“My father is unwell so I thought of being there for him. I am happy that I made this decision as I got the chance to enjoy village life and at the same time, nurse my father, which gave me immense satisfaction. It is after more than two decades that I have stayed for such a long span in my village. Had things not moved at such a slow pace, work wise, due to the pandemic this would not have been possible. I loved every moment of my time spent in my hometown. The other day I decided to go for an early morning darshan of River Ganga which flows near our village. On reaching there I could not resist swimming in the river. Then I spotted a Shiv temple near the banks and performed some puja. In the evening I even participated in a bhajan session in the temple. Everything appeared so surreal. My mornings were spent enjoying a kadha of giloy sitting on a jhula on a tree, with sprawling greenery around. I feel not even the most plush resorts are any match to this, as it made me feel so rejuvenated. I enjoyed it so much out there that I never wanted this to end."
On the pandemic affecting the film industry rather adversely, Vipin accepts that it is a tough time for everyone including the artists . “ In such a scenario, it becomes the responsibility of each and every member of the industry to look after people working under them. They should ensure that people of their team at least have enough to eat during these rather unnatural times. This will solve the problem to a large extent. Personally I am in constant touch with musicians of my team so that in case of any crisis they can always call me for help. At the same time any such help should not be publicized as we should respect the dignity of the needy."
The music director who recently recorded a song with
Neha Kakkar for the
Parineeti Chopra starrer The Girl On The Train, says work is gradually resuming as things cannot come to a stop. “We have to find ways to do it keeping in mind the present times. So before coming home I recorded the song in a studio in Mumbai keeping all the safety protocols in place. I have few pending work for films like Nikamma and Bhuj: The Pride of India, for which I will be flying back to Mumbai soon. Even during my stay at home I composed music for two ads which were approved, the final recording will take place once I am back in Mumbai”, he adds.
