We Upites are valuable: Sanjay Masoom, says Bollywood writer Sanjay Masoom, talking about the contributions of writers from the state to Hindi cinemaHindi at Heart Writer Sanjay Masoom, who’s written the dialogues of “
Jannat 2”, believes that the reason North Indians are doing extraordinary work in the Indian film industry is because they are dedicated and very hardworking.
The writer, originally an Allahabadi, was in Lucknow recently for his movie “
Rangdari”, and spoke to us about ‘Hindi vaasis’ and the resources they provide to the film industry. Says Masoom, “People who have been moving to Bollywood from Uttar Pradesh are doing some good work there. I believe that is because they are hardworking, dedicated and have a good command over Hindi language. Our diction is very good and since Hindi is the language that is used primarily in our films, it gives us an edge over other writers. That’s why we UPites are very valuable to Bollywood,” says Masoom.
Lucky me Masoom, who is also writing for
“Krissh 3”, says he’s lucky to get a chance to have written the dialogues and songs for Mukesh Bhatt’s “
Jannat 2”. “Because I am a poet at heart, I keep penning down my thoughts as and when I get the opportunity. One such collection was my book “Yahin Kahin” that was being released in Mumbai with Mahesh Bhatt as the chief guest. We had a chat and he said to me
‘aapne kavitayen toh bahut likhi hui hain, kya hamare liye bhi likhna pasand karenge?’ He offered me “
Jannat 2” and I agreed without a second thought.”
