The last piece of cheese during a family dinner was just a coincidence, especially before their first gig when they didn’t have a band name. The Family Cheese, members although from different cities have one thing in common their drive to learn music. The trio, Homi Rustumji, Yohan Marshall and Apurv Isaac study together in at Swarnabhoomi Academy of Music, Chennai.
This new outfit in the Indie music scene is just five months old and they already have a few outstation gigs under their sleeve. “We are being taught how to be musical with everything,” says Apurv Isaac. For The Family Cheese, their school has taught them everything. “Anything that we hear in the school is musical and inspirational,” says Apurv. “They have also taught us how to survive as a musician in the real world, " he adds.
The music of this three piece band varies from blues to drum and bass, from electronica to Jazz fusion. "All three of us have similar tastes in music but we have very different backgrounds and approaches to music," says Apurv. "That is what sets us apart," he says proudly.
Apurv feels that when it is about composition of music, “There is no idea that is a bad idea as far as we are concerned.”
"We have four new songs that we have almost finished working on," says Apurv. "We are thinking of making an album. It is definitely going to be a big deal and being the perfectionists that we try to be, it might take a while," he adds.
This young band has already performed in Bangalore more than twice. "We love the people, the food, the weather and the great vibes, definitely one of our favorite places to play," says the vocalist Apurv.
