Chennai during the Margazhi month...
I’m a hardcore Chennaiite and Margazhi is special for me because I get to listen to most of my favourite artistes live. I make it a point to be present in the city during this month and also bring my friends from Germany and the US to listen to the concerts. This Margazhi is even more special because I’m bringing out a piece for the Chennai Sangamam.

In fact, I’m working on it now and juggling between that and concerts.
Film V/s Classical...
I can’t choose between film and classical music because they serve totally different things. Film music usually deals more with mood pieces and reflects the state-of-mind of people. And that’s why it’s popular. But classical music has a lot more to do with spirituality. Despite having different rasas, it’s a platform to reach the Almighty.
Artiste of your choice...
I have two favourites — Veena Gayathri and Sanjay Subramaniam. The two have taken their respective crafts to the next level. I lose myself in their music.

Music and dance...
I prefer listening to kutcheris. I haven’t got anything against dance, but I relate more to music. But my wife, Devi, attends all dance performances and narrates her experiences to me. That way, I don’t miss out on both.
Thematic v/s Margam...
I don’t differentiate between thematic and margam concerts. For me, it’s the artiste and their talent that matters.
