Bickram Ghosh’s work in filmmaker Girish Malik’s musical ‘Band of Maharajas’ is in the race for Oscar nomination in the Best Original Song (Ishq Walla Daku) and Best Original Score categories.
In an exclusive chat with Bombay Times, Bickram says, “I am hugely validated and honoured. This is second time! First was in 2014 for Jal. 10 years later, again it’s the same jodi, Girish’s film and my music. This is a huge deal for me because it’s over 6000 entries and only 89 songs are chosen globally, multi-language, multi genre. And this year, this is the only Hindi film to make it to this list.”
The musician, known for being one of the driving forces of experimental music had earlier played for a Grammy-winning album and has played on four Grammy nominated albums. He adds, “Girish and I are doing something right that’s why internationally people at the highest level are recognising and endorsing us. Over the last 20-25 years of my work, I have had penetrations into international scenarios like this in various levels including the Grammy.”
