Sufism is me: Abida Parveen
We last saw her in Delhi in the front row for designer duo Meera and Muzaffar Ali’s show at the recently concluded fashion week, but Abida Parveen says Delhi’s home for her.
In fact, she keeps coming to Delhi for her annual performance at the Jahan-e-Khusrau festival that the Alis organise and says, “Dilli toh ab mujhe apna ghar lagta hai.”
While in Delhi, she also spoke to us about her own fashion statement as well as getting offers from Bollywood.

She said, “I keep getting offers from Bollywood but that’s not me. Sufism is me, and I love the concerts that I do.”
As far as her style statement is concerned, she says, “I created this look out of comfort and it hasn’t changed over the years. I’ve been wearing these ajrak dupattas since forever.” The ajrak dupattas are specially made in the Sindh district of Pakistan. Says Abida, “My wardrobe is full of only these dupattas in all types. These dupattas only come from Hazrat Shah Abdul Latif Bhitai’s dargah for me.”
