The comedy songs are conspicuously missing from our movies and we have forgotten the legendries who made us sing and laugh at the same timeRemember all those songs that made you laugh and still do? The likes of Ek chatur naar, Ake seedhi lagi dil pe jaise kataria, Jane kahan mera jigar gaya ji, CAT cat, cat mane billi, Sala main to sahab ban gaya and many others that made us hum the songs with delight and made us laugh everytime we heard them.
But with time such songs have disappeared from our movies. Times have changed so much that there is no place for songs that can make us laugh on their tunes.
In those times there was a fixed format that one could expect to see. There will be a hero, his love interest - a heroine, a character artist and a comedian. And the best part was each one of them got their share of things. And the comedian would have one hit number to his credit for sure. Johnny Walker has had some all time hits to his name like Tel Maalish and Ye hai Mumbai meri jaan.
Kishore Kumar had mastered the art of funny songs as we all know. Songs from the likes of Ina mina dika, Dheere se jana khatiyan mein, Panch rupaiya bara ana and so many others that tickled our funny bone.
Today’s films definitely have no space for such luxuries, even we would not like a song in between the scenes as we are not patient enough to sit through all of them. But we sure still like to watch these songs on Youtube once in a while in surprisingly find that they haven’t really lost their charm yet.
Is it really true that there is not enough time for us to sit a while and just smile?
