Dance maestro Shiamak Davar lists his all-time favourites
Shiamak Davar's 17 best dance videos
I’ve always believed that if you have feet... you can dance. That is what made me stand on my own feet at an early age. Everybody needs inspiration, however, and here I list 17 dance videos that I believe set the tone and direction for my feet down the years...
Human Nature (Madonna): Madonna is a style icon and with Human Nature she took it to another level with braided hair and a cat-suit.

There are just a few dancers, but brilliant visuals and use of sets.
Straight Up (Paula Abdul): I love how this video begins with a tap dance routine, Paula is one of my favourite performers.
Single Ladies (Beyonce): Beyonce is among the best international performers. What style and attitude, her stage persona, Sasha Fierce brings out a strong woman and performer.
Rhythm Nation (Janet Jackson): A video with great choreography, Janet Jackson had equal prowess as her brother!
Dil Toh Pagal Hai: I took the risk of bringing Jazz and a Western feel to Bollywood dancing. From Dance of Envy and Le Gayi, to Chak Dhoom Dhoom it was a pleasure choreographing.
Cinema Italiano (Nine): I’ve always loved musicals, and this song was the highlight of the movie.
Dola Re (Devdas): Sarojji is brilliant and I love this song. Madhuri and Sarojji make such a good team and Ash adds to the whole look.

Pyar Kiya Toh Darna Kya (Mughal-e-Azam): Madhubala’s expressions and performance is beyond belief. This video displayed the grandeur of the sets and costumes.
Singing in the Rain (Singing in the Rain): It was a great Broadway experience by Gene Kelly, a classic!
Badan Pe Sitare (Prince): Shammi Kapoor’s rock‘n’roll moves made this song very popular. Till today his moves are replicated by dance lovers.
Dhoom Again (Dhoom 2): Hrithik’s talent gives me the ability to choreograph without restrictions. He and Ash created magic!
Phir Milenge Chalte Chalte (Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi): This video was a journey through all eras of Indian cinema. Working with talented Bollywood actresses was a great experience. And Shah Rukh Khan’s energy was amazing!
Cool from West Side Story: Jazz choreography at its best!
All That Jazz (Chicago): Catherine Zeta Jones was like fire in this movie!
My Wish Comes True (Kisna): The use of costumes, props and visuals makes this among my favourites.
On The Floor (Jennifer Lopez): JLo creates magic in this video. I love her in this song.
What A Feeling (Flashdance): This is a feel good song. It is one of my favourite dance movies, a great experience watching this movie!
