Shankar Mahadevan is breathless

Music Composer-Singer Shankar Mahadevan has come a long way in the industry having left scores of aficionados literally "breathless" with his diverse body of work.
His contribution to the industry over the years through his myriad projects has been incredible. Many an award has come Shankar's way, but the most prestigious and special according to the singer, has been the Lata Mangeshkar Award.
The award which is given on behalf of the Andhra Pradesh State Government for contribution in music had the composer/singer excited as Lata Mangeshkar herself called Shankar to inform him of his win. "This is more than just an award for me. It's a huge honour! And coming from someone like Lataji makes it all the more precious. I am truly humbled and thank Goddess Saraswati for blessing me. I'd also like to thank everyone who has supported and stood by me, through times both good and bad. It is times like these that make our work all the more worthwhile. I still have lots to contribute and share and vow to strive towards creating great music for all my fans," said Shankar who received the award in a glittering ceremony in Hyderabad.
