Shaan lends his voice to Rangayan’s upcoming film Kuch Sapney Apne
Bollywood singer Shaan, who has sung memorable songs like Jab Se Tere Naina (Saawariya), Kuch Toh Hua Hai (Kal Ho Naa Ho), My Dil Goes Hmmm (Salaam Namaste), has lent his voice to the song Uda Uda in the Hindi feature film Kuch Sapney Apne, directed by Sridhar Rangayan.
The song penned by Saagar Gupta and composed by Priyabrata Panigrahi is a peppy breezy song which opens the film and has been shot in Sweden.
Excited by such a wonderful support, Rangayan said, “We still can’t believe Shaan has sung a song for our film pro bono. We approached him through a friend, and he immediately said yes. We are super excited!”
Shaan said, “When I heard the theme of the film and the social cause it advocates, I immediately yes. It was a pleasure singing the song, and I sincerely hope it contributes to its massy appeal to take this important film far and wide”.
Lyricist Saagar Gupta, who has written lyrics for films 68 Pages and Evening Shadows said, “Usually we have the song ready before going in for the film shoot. But in this case we reversed the process – we first assembled all the visuals, and then the song was written for those shots, keeping the situation in mind. Since the song convey the feelings of one the protagonists who is visiting Stockholm, the scenic beauty and monuments of Stockholm provide just the desired settings for the lyrics. Collaborating with the veteran singer Shaan and the upcoming music director Priyabrata proved perfect for the peppy song that we wanted to create about the ambitions and allurements that one has in their youth. Hope when the song ‘Uda-Uda’ is out it will make everyone to spread their wings and fly to their rainbows!”
Music composer Priyabrata Panigrahi who has composed background score for films like The Last Color, Heritage of the Thrall and The Last Rights said, ”When Sridhar sir asked me to compose a song which depicts the free-flowing nature of the main character Kartik, I felt this should also be a song which resonates amongst the youth. After a few brain-storming sessions with lyricist Saagar Gupta, who wrote the beautiful lines of song, we came up with a structure that has a great recall value and can be hummed easily. Later on when I got to know that the renowned playback singer Shaan agreed to sing our song, my joy knew no bounds. I was almost in tears after the recording happened. Shaan sir’s aura was different, which I can’t express in words. He gave all his expertise and justice to the song. Working with such a veteran singer was a dream come true for a music director like me.”
Kuch Sapney Apne, is a follow-up film to the hugely successful film Evening Shadows which won 27 international awards and screened at more than 80 film festivals.
The film stars Mona Ambegaonkar, Shishir Sharma, Satvik Bhatia, Arpit Chaudhary and Yateen Karyekar along with Abhay Kulkarni, Veenah Nair and Yamini Singh.
Post production of this crowdfunded film is underway and the film is expected to be ready by end of the year.
