' (1979), 'Raziya Sultan' (1983), 'Bazaar' (1982) and more took his last breath today at a hospital in Mumbai. He was 93.

He was rushed to the hospital and was in ICU since July 28. And today, after battling with life, he passed away due to cardiac arrest.

Many took to their social media accounts to express their grief over the loss of a legend.

celebs were no different. Veteran actor Rishi Kapoor, Javed Akhtar and others mourned the demise of the legend.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted, "India will remain grateful to Khayyam Sahab for giving us some of the most memorable compositions, which will be remembered forever. He will also be remembered for his humanitarian gestures to support upcoming artists. His demise is extremely saddening."


Meanwhile, Khayyamji’s last rites will be held tomorrow in Mumbai.
