Oscar winning Sound engineer Resul Pookutty is out to do a good deed. Resul has collaborated with the IIFA Foundation to provide scholarships to students from the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), Pune. Resul has chosen three students for his generous gesture.Pookutty had launched the Resul Pookutty-IIFA Foundation in 2010 which provided annual scholarships worth Rs.224,000 to promote the budding technical talent in the Indian film industry.
The programme began in 2010 with one scholarship and in 2011 they initially planned to give two scholarships but now they are giving three scholarships.
Resul Pookutty himself is an alumnus of the FTII and passed out in 2005. Remembering his own initial days as a struggling techinician, Resul wants to give something to the students of this institution who are willing to carve a niche for themselves in the Indian film industry.
