Oscar-winning sound designer and an FTII alumnus, Resul Pookutty, has given music for a Marathi film — A Rainy Day — a first for him. Confirming the news, Resul said, “This film only has sound, so it was a delight for me to work on such a product. I had to devise multiple layers of the sounds of rain as it is a constant in the film. This is my most challenging work till date and showcases maximum experimentation.” Pookutty further added that this film is his tribute to Maharashtrians.
“I have spent my formative years in Pune and love Maharashtrian culture, values and people. Director
Rajendra Talak has given me an opportunity to be able to pay my tribute.”
Talking about Marathi cinema, Resul said, “I feel if Indian cinema is on the world map, it’s due to our regional films. The subjects, experimentation and structure of Marathi cinema are at times superior to even a Bollywood product.”
