RahTwoFive: "Punjabi music is in my blood"; it's all about blending music and cultures for the American-Punjabi artist

Over the centuries, artistic expression in the form of music has influenced people all around the world. Contributing to this ever-evolving landscape of music is Rahul, ‘RahTwoFive’ Mahajan, an American-Punjabi artist, who, after making waves in Hollywood, is now looking forward to expanding in India.

“As much as I’ve grown up with hip-hop and pop, I’ve always danced to Punjabi music with my family. It’s in my blood,” says the artist, who loves to fuse R&B, hip-hop, and pop with Punjabi beats.

Born and raised in Detroit, Michigan, and later rooted in Los Angeles and Malibu, RahTwoFive has over the years loved and studied the music by Indian icons like Arijit Singh, Diljit Dosanjh, and Badshah. His bond with his roots and heritage shapes his work and adds to his authenticity. “India isn’t just a place on a map for me—it’s a part of who I am,” he shares.

His latest single, ‘iCandy’, produced by Mally Mall and distributed through Empire Studio, featuring Jeremih (who has worked extensively with Justin Bieber), is another treat for his fans. And next, he is looking to broaden his horizon by working with Indian composers, producers, and dancers. “Performing in India would feel like coming home,” he says.

RahTwoFive has a background in fashion design, which influences his visual style. His approach is modern and expressive. On stage or screen, he conveys a distinctive energy that appeals to a wide range of people.

Message for the youth

As he rises in the global spotlight, RahTwoFive stands as a voice for a generation raised between traditions, speaking in rhythm to the hearts of millions. “I’d like to convey to the youth and leaders of the world that the future is for lovers. World peace is possible, and I will use my art to inspire the shift towards a future full of Love and brotherhood amongst people of all colors, religions, and nations.
