Apart from her Bollywood chartbusters like 'Dhunki' ('Mere Brother Ki Dulhan'), 'Kuch Khaas Hai' (‘Fashion’), 'Jag Ghoomeya' (‘Sultan’), singer-songwriter
Neha Bhasin is known for her Indi pop and Punjabi folk numbers.
The singer has recently put out another single and talking to Bombay Times about it says, “’Tu Ki Jaane’ is a Punjabi song about heartbreak. Ye gaana maine apni Mumma ke sath likha hai.
And I think har koi kisi na kisi waqt pe uss ek emotion, (heartbreak) se gujar chuka hain.”
This song has been sung from a woman’s perspective which is not very common when it comes to heartbreak numbers. She explains, “I feel that the new thing about this song is that it is from a female perspective. We keep listening to songs that are from a male perspective and there are heartbreak songs from a female perspective that are sung by male singers. And this is a song that talks about what I feel about heartbreak and it's a heartfelt song. Thoda melancholic hai, emotional hai, strong hai.”
The music video has a distinct international vibe and is aesthetically presented. “We shot this video in Nainital in a very famous burnt down hotel. Director ka bahot mann tha ki ek sense of abandonment and isolation ek couple ke beech dikhai jaye. This music video has intimacy, beauty, and art in it, so I think it has something for everyone,” she says, adding, “I have always endeavored that indie pop and non-film music should have an international global appeal aur uske andar woh ek x-factor ho and I think wo aapko iss gane aur video mein dikhayi dega or sunai bhi dega.”
