A Mumbai-based Sunni Muslim organisation has requested for a ban on the latest film, 'Muhammad: Messenger of God'. They have termed the film to be “blasphemous for more than one reason.” The organisation has also sought “legal action” against composer AR Rahman for giving music for the film and "hurting the sentiments of Indian Muslims," reports Indianexpress.com. READ: In every song, I ask help from God: AR Rahman The film in question is a triology on the life of Muhammad and shows his journey of turning into a prophet.
In the memorandum, the organisation has said that the Prophet's name should not be mentioned in a film's title as people might insult it. They have also stressed on the fact that in Islam, photography isn’t allowed. The memorandum also raises question on the various actors who have played Muhammad.
Mohammed Saeed Noori, founder secretary of the Raza Academy, also claimed that the Iranian Consulate refused to meet a five-member delegation from the academy. However, the officials from the Consulate have denied any such appointment, as per the report.
