Musical treat in Kargil
Musicians Shankar Mahadevan, Ehsaan Noorani and Loy Mendonsa will bring in Kargil Vijay Divas tomorrow at Ground Zero, the Indian Army base in Jammu and Kashmir’s Drass sector.
The trio, along with singer Akriti Kakkar have been invited to perform for the Indian Army personnel there. Over 2000 civilians from the Kargil area are also expected to attend the event. “It’s an opportunity we’ll cherish for the rest of our lives,” says Mahadevan, who is also taking his family along.

The composers will reach the base today and will be staying at the army quarters. They will be joined by director Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra. “Rakeysh will also be taking us around, as he’s been to Drass before,” Shankar says.
As part of the tribute this year, 524 lamps will be lit in honour of each hero claimed by the war. A
