When do you listen to music? Often, especially when I’m driving or travelling long distances.
What kind of music do you like listening to? I have very eclectic taste in music. I’m a die-hard fan of
Michael Jackson and I also listen to a lot of Blues and Jazz, ghazals and old Hindi numbers.
I also like listening to Coldplay, Dave Matthews Band and
Lady Gaga. Currently, my favourites are
Adele and Jessie J.
What musical instrument do you play or would like to learn? I’d like to learn the piano. I learnt a little as a kid but didn’t pursue it all the way. I like its sound as I find it relaxing and absorbing.
Your favourite singer? Michael Jackson and
Madonna have been my all-time favourites. I also like Tracy Chapman, Abida Parveen,
Jagjit Singh and
Atif Aslam. Presently, it’s Adele.
A song that holds special meaning for you? Where Do You Go to My Lovely by Peter Sarstedt. My sister and I grew up listening to this song. There’s a small French town, Juan Les Pins mentioned in the song and two years back, my sister and I visited that place.
What’s playing on your mp3 player at the moment? Songs by Adele, Pink Floyd,
Norah Jones, etc. Also, songs from movies like Rockstar and Aisha.
A music icon you would love to meet and why? It’s hard to pick one, but Lady Gaga because of her persona and crazy element; Adele and Norah Jones for their soulful music; and Robbie Williams for his talent.
Music to you is... A creative, artistic form of expression. It’s elevating, relaxing and meaningful as well.
The one voice that speaks to you is... None at the moment. But when I was in the ninth grade, I was crazy about Alanis Morissette.
The song you work out to? I don’t workout. But if I go for a jog then I listen to house music.
The song you cry to? I don’t cry to any song but listening to Wish You Were Here by Pink Floyd, Imagine by John Lenon and The Earth Song by Michael Jackson makes me poignant.
The song/album that makes you nostalgic? Sound of Silence by Simon and Garfunkel. I’ve grown up listening to it, it reminds me of my childhood in Delhi and it makes me nostalgic about my dad.
If you could, you would like to sing a duet with...? Robbie Williams. I have attended some of live concerts and he’s a fabulous performer.
