Mohit Chauhan: It takes time for people to like a song; the shelf life of today’s songs is less

Singer Mohit Chauhan

is someone who has been always vocal about social issues, including climate crisis, and has made it a point to speak about these issues through his social media posts and concerts. In an interview with us, the Masakali singer shared that he is working on a musical project that speaks about climate change. “I don’t want to be preachy about it, and will try to retain the romance of a song while addressing this pressing issue. I don’t know how the song will be received by the audience, but I am hoping for the best,” shares Mohit.

released, people from across the country kept calling me and it went on for quite some time. People wanted to know how I came up with the composition.”

Through the pandemic, Mohit fed a lot of stray animals in Delhi and would post photos of the same on his social media handles. He says that this inspired a lot of people to do the same in their respective areas. “I got so many messages on Twitter saying people have started feeding strays in their cities. I think if we are compassionate towards animals, then we can be more compassionate towards humans. I saw that many people have adopted indie dogs and that’s a welcome change,” says Mohit.

"Once, I was recording with AR Rahman and after the recording we were sitting together when he asked if I was still making my own songs? When I said I was, he told me that I should never give up doing that," shares Mohit.
