40 years ago, today, on July 31, the legendary singer
Mohammed Rafi had left for his heavenly abode.
With around 7,000 songs to his credit in multiple languages including Hindi, Maithili, Bhojpuri, Tamil, English, Arabic and many others, he was one of the finest in the bygone era, so much so that there was a public mourning in his honour post his demise. His songs have been earworms for over three generations of music lovers.
And to celebrate the 40th year of remembrance, an organisation has arranged for a musical tribute on August 2, 2020.
Talking about it Shahid Rafi, son of Mohammed Rafi says, “It’s a great honour for my father. He has left a rich musical legacy of us to cherish. A singer par excellence and the most compassionate person I know. In the ears of millions, his voice still rings; in the hearts of thousands, his generosity still flows.”
Agam Nigam adds, "It's a once in a lifetime opportunity for any singer to perform on his songs. It's an absolute honour to pay my tribute to the epitome of music. Rafi Sahab's purity and goodness was evident in his voice. He was and will always be the voice of Indian Music Industry."The musical tribute to the legendary singer is where you will get to hear some rare classic numbers and some untold stories about the legend. Shahid Rafi, Amar Haldipur and Agam Nigam will be a part of this tribute.
