Is what it will cost to get Lady Gaga to India for a three-city tour
It is known that US pop queen Lady Gaga recently confirmed to a US daily that she'd vist India sometime soon. What isn't as known is that she has planned a three-city tour in coming months. There’s buzz that Shailendra Singh's event management company is also trying to get the singer for their annual electronic music festival in Goa this year. The source adds, “Negotiations are on, and they are presently stuck at money considerations. Gaga charges anywhere close to Rs 5 crore and the costs should work out for everyone. She will be the star attraction at the music festival if things do work out.” In a recent interview, she cited her reasons for coming to India now. She said, “The reason I'm going to India now is because I can. I didn't have the money or the resources before to travel and bring all of my things with me and reach an entire new territory of fans.” The Poker Face singer plans to visit Mumbai, Bangalore and one other city as a stopover on her global tour to promote her latest album Born This Way. The 25-year-old New York-born singer has topped charts the world over with hits like Poker Face, Bad Romance, Just Dance, Telephone and her latest single Glory of Edge.
In February, she mentioned during an interview to a local news channel in the US about a possible visit to India. However, she didn’t have the country on her map during her last tour, called Monster Ball. Due to logistical and bureaucratic hiccups, the trip to India never worked out then. But matters are ironed out now, with her management striving to bring her to our shores. A source working on the possible tour says, “Lady Gaga’s been wanting to come to India for a very long time. Her first album Fame and the follow-up Fame Monster have both gone platinum and have done remarkably well in the domestic market. She has a huge fan following in the country and the audience will lap up her concerts.”
Though details are sketchy at this point, Gaga plans to come down with her full entourage. “Her shows are pretty intense. She personally supervises everything from the stage to the lighting to the costumes. Whatever money Gaga has made from her albums she has put it into her tour. In fact, she was literally broke after her first major tour because she spent all the money on clothes.” Gaga’s desi connection For her latest album Born this Way, Lady Gaga collaborated with Indian composers Salim and Sulaiman who remixed her title track and also her second single Judas. The singer collaborated with UK-based site Desihits.com to work on remixes that became instant hits upon release. Did you know? Gaga’s real name is Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta and she adopted her stage name inspired by Freddie Mercury hit: Radio Gaga. She's left-handed and was "very dedicated, very studious, very disciplined" in high school. A significant gay icon, she has famously declared that her song Poker Face was about her bisexuality. She started the ritual of chewing off heads of Barbie dolls after rubbing it between her legs. Gaga addresses herself as ‘Mother Monster’ and calls all her fans ‘little monsters’. She also has a signature ‘claw gesture’ which she uses to symbolize freedom and letting go of insecurities during her songs.
