Kumar Sanu: He would always call me Tiger; I am going to miss him a lot

, breathed his last at the

Raheja Hospital

in Mahim, last night. He had tested positive for COVID-19 and had been on a ventilator, in a critical condition for the past four days. The Hindi film music industry has since then, been in shock hearing the sad news.

Singer Kumar Sanu who worked closely with the composer duo in the 90s and had belted out some of the biggest chartbusters of that decade with them, is devastated and spoke to Bombay Times about the sad demise.

“This is terribly shocking news and I still cannot believe that Shravan ji is no longer with us.
We have been associated with each other for a really long time and hamare zindagi ka ek bahut important part hai who,” he said.

Sanu is not in Mumbai right now and said that he was devastated. “I came to know about this yesterday and reached out to his family and spoke to his son.” Shravan’s wife and elder son had also tested Covid positive and are right now undergoing treatment at a Mumbai hospital.

The composer duo and Kumar Sanu have given us melodious numbers in films like 'Aashiqui' and songs like ‘Sochenge Tumhe Pyar’, ‘Aisi Deewangi Dekhi Nahi Kahi’, ‘Payaliya’, (Deewana), ‘Mera Dil Bhi Kitna Pagal Hai’ (‘Saajan’) ‘Kitna Haseen Chehra’ (‘Dilwale’), ‘Woh Ladki Bahut Yaad Aati Hai’ (‘Qayamat: City Under Threat’) and many more…

Sanu has fond memories of working with the jovial Shravan. He said, “When we used to record with the music directors

and Shravan ji, he would always personally come ahead and give me inputs. He would always come and teach me the little nuances, especially the classical parts in a song.Woh mujhe batate thhey Ki asise harkatein lo, aise mudkiyaan karo toh gaana better hoga. I would listen to him and implement all that in my songs.”

Sanu added, “Every song of mine has a big contribution of Shravan ji in it. He would always call me Tiger, I am going to miss him a lot. And sometimes would make me sing more than once. Now there is no one to say all this to me... I feel really sad that he is no longer with us. It is a sad time and this is a very sad news. May God rest his soul in peace. These are difficult times that we all are living in right now. I just want to request everyone ki please savdhani se rahiye. Please take all the protection that is required and necessary and stay safe and healthy.”
