Bollywood singer Monali Thakur is on a high. After winning accolades for her songs last year and getting the National Award this year, the vocalist is thrilled with the way her career is going. In an interview with a daily, she spoke at length about the evolving face of music in the industry.


From adapting to auto-tuning to heavy instrumentation, Monali is open to it all. "Singers should adjust to the upcoming trend, and be confident of their own ability. ���We, as singers, have to realise that times have changed and a lot of things will keep on evolving. Everyday the sound is changing and we have to adjust to that, so it���s the same with actors singing��� she says. The auto-tune feature is used to manipulate the human voice and move from one pitch to another smoothly. Monali, who has won the National award for singing, says, ���Only the producer can take that call. If they think that a particular person���s voice will suit their song the best, and if they can justify the melody, then anyone can sing any song. At the end of the day, a song is meant to be enjoyed by everyone," she said.
